It came to my attention a few month ago that the latest version of CrossOver (or Wine) now run XG2 correctly. I finally remember to get to check that.
If you are not familiar with Wine here is a quick run down. At the difference of a Windows Emulator Wine will run Windows application natively on Mac and Linux. So you do not need to install a WM or purchase Windows. This is achieved by recreating all (most) windows function.
CrossOver is a commercial build of Wine, that offer an easier interface and a more tested build of Wine.
Wine can be found at winehd.org
CrossOver is on www.codeweavers.comIn CrossOver the process is simple:
download the trial version of Crossover and start it in the browser got to www.extremegammon.com and donwload the install in Crossover click "install a windows application" click "Select and install" and pick "Choose installer File" Browse to the Download folder and pick XG2install.exe Click "Proceed" follow the installation prompt (use all the default) It works quite well on my Mac.
I am looking for feedback on any issue before officialy endorsing that as a variable solution for Mac and Unix users.
Known issue:
Menu Help>>contact technical support does not work Japanese version: some of the text (bold arial) does not display correctly Thanks for your help
