Game winning roll?

This is a really interesting position. OTB and given the match score (race to 1 so gammons don't matter) I would play safe, 24/18 6/2. If gammons were possible I'd have to think a little more about the hit 24/18/14*. Yes, white has a lot more chances to hit back with blue's blot on the 6 but I think that playing safe opens up more opportunities for white on the next roll. I'm guessing that the safe play still wins more games but not by as much as some might think. And if gammons were a possibility then the hitting play definitely wins significantly more gammons and makes that play more appealing. Having said that, the chances for a gammon are probably still fairly low even with the hitting play so it's probably still correct to play safe (darn).
