If that means manipulating the game and the dice to keep more players and more players happy -- they do it.

I have played a lot of online backgammon over the last three years. I have read a lot about backgammon. I do not believe at all that the dice are manipulated.

If that means 'taking care' of their bigger spenders at the expense of others -- they do it.

This is patently false. Most bigger spenders are better players. As Ian noted, these players are saddled with ratings that cause long delays and limited action. If online servers cared about their bigger spenders, they would eliminate ratings. However, there are more weak players than strong players. Servers care more about protecting weaker players with ratings to encourage their continued play.
