I believe if God didn't want us to eat animals he woudln't have made them out of meat.

The memoirs of George Catlin, the artist who traveled for many years among the Native Americans of the midwest in the early part of the 19th century, relates that at times as a guest among some tribes he would feast on dog meat. Not because dog was a delicacy -- far from it, in the land where the deer and the antelope and the buffalo played -- but because his hosts could pay no greater honor to their guest than to kill the best of their dogs and serve them up as stew. After dinner, Catlin writes, brave men would talk about the recently dispatched domesticants, and cry.
