Soul Destroying...

How so?
Trapped behind a 6 prime, no chance of counterpriming, Blue has a hopeless game. He should play to minimize gammon losses, which maintains long-shot winning chances.
Bar/24. 24/23 because an ace point blot is only a target for a loose hit, possibly sending more checkers back. Blue will want that checker to run when he's able. Now Blue could stack'em with 8/6. By why not prepare to make some kind of bearoff board. 2/1 because that dilly builder has no other use. And 2/1 again, keeping the 3 and 2 points slotted so Blue's 3's, 4's, 5's and 6's have somewhere good to go.
Now I see. OTB player played 6/5*/3. He may have thought that was safer. But it's not. He has to play bar/23. His play slows Opp down, which accomplishes nothing, and relatively speeds himself up, so he's more likely to crash. If he just leaves Opp alone, he only needs to hang on for 3 or 4 rolls -- sometimes 1 or, if Opp rolls big doublets -- and Opp will be out of his hair for good.
