Christian had mentioned that he expect playing to the 5 point to lose a lot fewer gammons which is part of the equation. I was trying to highlight another part of the equation which is the play that wins the most games. To me, in this position, I hit in a heartbeat at dmp. Since I also expect hitting to win slightly more gammons then the gammons lost would have to amount to a ton to overcome not only the few more gammons won, but the obscene amount of single wins they would have to overthrow at the exchange rate of 2:1.

Your backgame position isn't terrible but it also isn't committed to being solely a backgame. When you're in a backgame the first thing you usually want to strive for is figuring a way out of it.
