I don't think the double slot looks wild. I think it looks good. If it goes well and the opponent doesn't hit, then the potential gains are great.

In any case we will most likely have a good opportunity to build at least 1 of the points. If things go poorly, then we will recirculate the frontloaded spares which might not be so terrible.

We have no other blots floating around and an otherwise sound position so I think we can afford to make the big play.

I think I might have tried the double slot against XG2 at home or against a weak opponent. However, I am sure I would have chickened out and made the bar against a strong opponent if something significant was at stake.
