Once you see this box in action, you will be convinced that nothing more is needed to ensure the dice are properly mixed in all directions. As for noise, the felt on top of the baffles makes them nice and quiet.

As for using cups and the box, that is a matter of preference. Most still like to use cups because it just feels natural to shake the dice and them roll them. I have used this box with and without cups and either way you get a fair roll.
