I would have played 8/2* 6/3 here, but it's not clear to me that that's better than making the 5pt. Is there a third candidate that I'm missing? 13/7 6/3 perhaps. There's some logic to that because we would like to block the bar point and if White rolls a 5 then we're mostly in trouble anyway. If Carlo says he didn't consider the play over the board then this is what I would guess is the correct play since I can't imagine him missing either 8/2* 6/3 or 11/5 8/5.
