I’ve had a few lousy rolls in my time, but this is extreme.
–
White is Player 2
score: 0
pip: 1417 point match pip: 117
score: 3
Blue is Player 1XGID=-baCB-D-B-A-bB-----cbc-bA-:0:0:1:54:3:0:0:7:10 Blue to play 54 If Blue hits with the 4, where is the 5?
- Should Blue play 10/5, leaving a double-direct shot from the bar? White could then hit with any entering roll that includes a 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5.
- What about breaking the midpoint, 13/8? White could hit with any entering roll that containded a 1, 2, 3 or 5.
- And let’s not forget 8/3. Then White can hit with any entering rolls that has 1, 2, 3 or 5.
At this score, Blue should worry about losing a gammon. Perhaps he should play to minimize blots.
- Playing two down, 13/9 13/8, leaves any 3 or 5, plus indirect 7, 8 and 9 (63 62 54 53 52 44 43) as hitting numbers.
- Safest is to give up the 8pt, moving 8/4 8/3. Then White can only hit when he rolls any 3 or 5, plus indirect 7 and 8 (62 52 44 43).
Lastly, Blue could try bringing just one checker down, 13/4.
I am quite confident that one of these stinking moves is the correct play.
