As discussed previously (and confirmed by Xavier) - there isn't a publicly available version of XG at the moment that will run under any of the available Windows "emulators" like WINE. It has been tried and will fail. So you will need a version of Windows.

Your options are to set up your Intel based Mac to allow multiboot using software like Apple's Bootcamp, which re-partitions your hard drive to allow either OS/X or Windows to be chosen to boot at start up. The main downside is that it is a pain to switch between the two (you must reset/reboot your system to change). The advantage is in optimal XG performance when it runs.

If you wish to sacrifice some performance, and allow OS/X and Windows applications to coexist on the same desktop you can use Virtual Machine Software. There are a few choices in this area:

Open Source: https://www.virtualbox.org/

VMWare Fusion: http://www.vmware.com/products/fusion/overview.html

Paralells: http://www.parallels.com/ca/

Fusion and Parallels have a unity type interface that allow you to run Windows applications and have them appear as separate windows on your desktop. Windows from VMs and windows from the host can be seamlessly intermingled so that the distinction between the virtualized OS and the host OS almost disappear.

There is a performance drop running XG in a virtual environment but you can still get very good results from XG. I have never done benchmarks, but have found XG to be very usable under all three of the Virtual Machine products listed above.

The other method is to run XG on an existing windows system and remotely access the Windows PC from your Mac. This can be accomplished through programs/services like Remote Desktop, VNC, Logmein, Webex etc.
