I'm not so sure that luckgammon refutes Robertie's approach. Luckgammon has a lower complexity score than backgammon (a little over 2 I'd guess). Even though the skill set and strategy is the same, I would argue that luckgammon actually is less complex: It features a simple path to victory that is absent in standard backgammon.

Perhaps the definition of complexity is being hijacked and intertwined with the concept of difficulty. But I think Robertie's method measures something interesting about games of skill that is akin to complexity, including luckgammon.
