In Response To: The meaninglessness of backgammon results (Jason Lee)

What you say is true; however, I don't think I'm operating under any misconceptions.

I've been to chess tournaments and to one Othello tournament. I understand the social aspects of tournaments. But I'm a solitary person and I have my hands full already with the amount of social interaction that I already have in my life (which is a lot less than most people have). I'm not going to go to a backgammon tournament for social reasons.

I'm not trying to discourage anyone from going to backgammon tournaments. I didn't volunteer this information unsolicited; I provided it only because Bob Koca specifically asked me for my reasons.
