Daniel: If you charge bye receivers more, the fair price for their byes would be to charge them twice as much as those who don't get byes, since each of them is effectively occupying two spots in the round of 16.
This is 100% correct for a single-elimination tournament with no Consolation.
When there is a Consolation tournament, however, and perhaps a Last Chance after that, then charging two entry fees will be a bit high. That is because when you purchase two entries into the Main Flight (so that you can “play” against yourself in the first round), the “you” who loses in the first round is not entered into the Consolation.
So, the first entry should be charged at full price, but the second should be discounted according to the fair value of an entry in the Consolation.
