XG grading perplexity

It seems that some people are causing unnecessary confusion by using terminology sloppily.
PR, by definition, is just XG's internal measure of how well you play.
If human beings then make the mistake of taking PR to be, by definition, a true measure of how well a person plays, then it's those human beings who are to blame, not the definition of PR.
PR has a precise definition already. If you don't like the significance that people attach to it, then you should propose a different concept and argue that your new concept is better. If instead you try to change the existing definition, that will just create confusion.
So for example, one could take the "world champion" (and who is that, anyway? the winner of Monte Carlo that year?) as a standard and call such a measure "SKR" (Simon Knight Rating). Then one could argue that SKR, rather than PR, is a better measure of actual performance. This is far less confusing that trying to redefine PR.
Note that Xavier took this approach himself. Dissatisfied with Snowie ER, he did not make the mistake of trying to change the definition of ER, but created a new concept, gave it a new name, and argued that people should use his new concept.
