Against a backgame

I don't want Opp to be able to play spares freely. I also don't want Opp to make a 4-prime. 14/9 13/9 squeezes the spares, but does nothing about the bar point. I'd hit 22/18*/13. That stops the 4-prime threat. What else will happen? If Opp runs a blot to our 9 or 10 point (4-6 2-6 1-6 5-2) we have triple coverage to smack him back. If Opp plays his return within our home board (1-1 2-1 3-1 4-1 5-1 3-2 3-3 3-4 3-5 4-5) we make the 5 point (1-1 6-1 4-4) or the 9 or 10 point (5-4 5-2 4-2 2-2 4-3 4-1 3-1). If Opp hits (2-2 4-2 5-2 6-5) we still have double coverage of the 9 and 10 (and 11) points, or we can throw any hit checkers back into Opp's outfield without fear of his 3-prime.

As I see it, we're quite likely to make a 4-prime or better soon, anyway, and contain 6 checkers long enough for White's 2 remaining outfield checkers to bust. But we shouldn't let Opp make the bar point, because if he does he's likely to keep it quite a while and keep those two checkers in play. After 14/19 13/9 Opp's numbers that make his bar point are strong. The block that 14/9 13/9 makes isn't terribly strong, since Opp has 6's out and 5's from our 5 point. He has a lot of numbers that bring a spare to the 5 point or make the 5 point. And he also gets 6-1 6-3 6-4 5-1 1-4 1-3 1-2 1-1 to send one of our blots back behind Opp's 3-prime with slotted or made bar point -- these all look quite strong for Opp unless we can immediately return with a hit on the bar point.
