live vs online

In my mind playing online and live play are almost like two different games. For example when playing online you always have the pipcount (except from playing in IBC with a proctor) wich is a really big advantage over live play. I guess some people play stronger online and poorer live and vice verca. For my own part i feel that i play better with some stakes involved. Just playing for rating on say gridgammon I range from below 2 to around 7 or 8 in some matches. Playing live you also have other factors coming in, playing with a clock for example. Counting the race in time pressure can be troublesome. We all now by now that the race is the strongest factor for deciding when to run or stay or when to play bold or safe.
