Here is a crude idea of what you could do. Suppose you have a checker play with three plausible candidates. Look ahead 4 rolls for each candidate. For the first roll, take the top 12 candidates for each of the 21 possible rolls.
21 x 12 = 252
For second roll, take top 5 candidates of the 21 possible rolls.
21 x 5 = 105
For third and fourth rolls, take just the top candidate.
That gives 252 x 105 x 21 x 21 = 11.7 million positions. Roll out each of these positions, one trial each, using the highest settings you can. Average the results.
Each of the three candidate plays will be rolled out 21 x 21 x 21 x 21 = 194,481 times at very strong settings. Use the rollout results to choose the best play.
