I have worked for a number of backgammon servers. I am quite sure that in some cases money was refunded to those that complained. I worked just the match files though, I had no access to any player's personal information or finances.

However, I can say that if I was the owner of a backgammon server and my customers were cheated out of any money, I would make sure they get every penny back, even if it means paying them from my own pocket.
