I think one of the key factors is that having the 8 slotted is not so useful, because the 8 and 2 point cannot be part of one 6-prime. Slotting the 7 has more merit because it is part of the prime we would like to make. So having a checker on the 7, as direct cover for the 3 and as slot of the 8, makes sense. So 6/3*, 13/7 and then 8/5 to control joker sequences (also avoiding those where XG hits, we dance, and then XG picks up the blot on the 8, for example 43 (double hit) dance with 2 or 1 checker, 61 etc. etc.)
