Thus, the choice should be by popular demand, and should have nothing to do with the personal choice of the director. If you loathe clocks but all 60+ people who show up want to have a tournament with clocks, you better change your ways in a hurry.

What if it's 59-1? It seems obviously desirable to me to be able to publish a clock policy in advance, so that players who feel strongly (either way) about clock use can plan to attend, or not, accordingly.

The use of clocks/no clocks doesn't significantly affect the director.

Very funny.
