Playing to wrong match length

A match ends as soon as one player’s score meets or exceeds the agreed upon match-length as written on the draw sheet. ... Both players are responsible to see that a tournament official is informed of the outcome and the result is posted. If the match was played to the wrong score, with both players assuming that the match had ended, the result stands regardless of whether the match was played to a longer or shorter score.

Suppose two players are inadvertantly playing to the wrong score. (Both players have the wrong score written on their score sheet.) At some point one or both players become aware of the correct match length. In what situations does the wrong match length apply and in what situations does the correct match length apply?

a) Say the match isn't over yet, the players are playing to a short score (i.e., less than the correct match length), and at that point they become aware of the correct match length.

b) Say the match isn't over yet and the players are playing to a "long" score (more than the correct match length). One player has already reached the correct (posted) match length.

c) Say the match isn't over yet and the players are playing to a "long" score. But this time both players have reached the posted match length, and the player who reached it first is now trailing in the match.

d) Say the match has been completed to a short match length, but right after the match has apparently ended (before the score is reported), the players become aware of the correct match length.

e) Say the match has been completed to a long match length, but right after the match has ended (before the score is reported), the players become aware of the correct match length. It turns out the player who won the long match is not the same as who would have won the correct-length match (according to the score sheet).
