If there is no money in the backgammon, it can be organized like chess.
Players want to keep the money part and especially the rakes low.
Organizers canīt contribute signifcantly towards a national federation with low rakes that they charge.
National federations canīt contribute significantly to a well-operated world organization to owork properly.
The hierarchical pyramid doesnīt work (yet) in backgammon.
While I happen know exactly what kind of yearly budget FIDE has to operate (there are 2 numbers: one official number which is very considerable and one inofficial number which is even higher and spread over under-organizations of FIDE), backgammon can only dream about it. I also happen to know where that budget comes from and a considerable part of it comes from national organizations, which again get the money from the local organizers in their territories, which again charge the players for it....
To sum it up: correct, backgammon is not chess !
