Sure it lowers the luck of the first roll but it might just be shifting it elsewhere. If you realy want to lower the luck of the first roll I have an even more effective way. The new rule is that the person who wins the first roll must pick up the dice without moving any checkers and then on the opponent's next turn a doubles roll must be rerolled.
