Two obvious plays are 9/5 8/5 and 13/9 6/3.

Magriel bold vs safe criteria:

After our play we are one pips ahead but it is actually three pips behind=bold?

We have one more back checkers=bold

White has one blot in outfield=bold

White has better board but if we make our five point boards are equal.

We have blot in our homeboard=safe We have no anchor (but white is short on attacking material so there is no bug danger for blitz)=safe?

Additional argument for making five point is that three point is somewhat deeper than we like it and gap on 5pt and 4pt is not beautiful.

After making 5pt our structure is flexibile enough to make three point next roll.

Making three point leave us with only one spare on 6pt which is bad.

Making nine point strip our midpoint and nine point is not important here. Attack one ckecker, prime two. 9pt and 3pt couldn't be part on the same prime.

It is early in the match so a little risk is justify. I vote for making a 5pt.
