A chessplayer woudn't choose the Marshall Attack in a tournament game, but perhaps at 30 or 5 minutes games. And he is totally free to do so. And every chessplayer would complicate the situation if he can and if the opponents time is running low. And if the time management now is a feature of the game of backgammon, it is just a sign of a real pro to take it into considaration by choosing a move.
