As in a 12 second delay is arbitrary. I do recall watching a streamed match from a big tournament in the past year that had 15 sec delay. It may have been a foreign event, but it seemed to run smoothly enough.

If I were Backgammon King for a day, I would make all Advanced Division matches "Clock Preference" (something currently rare) AND since there would be Clock Preference there would be no reason that Advanced Division matches would be determined by fewer points. I believe most players would prefer 11 point matches in the Main (same as the Open), 9 in the Consolation, etc. and would gladly accept clock preference if that were the case.
