I can see both sides of this, and am surprised none of the responses articulate the underlying principle that guides the decision.

Was 6 a disadvantageous number for the roller? For the batter?

For the sake of argument, what if the non-roller had batted the die *away* from the table? Should the roller get to keep the 6?

My instinct is that Rory ruled correctly, but I'm not able to articulate the underlying rule that makes it so.
