So this means that if all byes were equitably compensated, the fair settlement in dollars for all round 1 byes would be exactly the same as for a round 11 bye? Of course not.
What you really mean, is that all byes are approximately equal in percentage terms in that they all roughly multiply your chance of winning the tournament by the same factor. That we agree on.
There's a reason people make settlements on 64-cubes that they don't bother even thinking about on 2-cubes. Sure, the equity of the position is the same regardless, but the money swinging on the outcome of that next dice roll is certainly not remotely the same. By analogy, we've come up with a standard method of handling 64-cubes when they occur so that there is much less swing on the next roll.
