Thanks for your good guesses - unfortunately nobody is right so far.

I'll announce the #1 country this coming weekend if nobody gets it before then.

Data like this can identify where backgammon is most proportionally popular (for nations that have decent internet access and also use Google) and can inform us of where we might best focus on growth/holding tournaments as a global community.

My aim is to use this data to invite representatives from various local social groups in my city on Facebook such as the Syrians, Greeks, Turks and Cypriots to play together in some competition against us Brits. I know a few individuals from various nations who will immediately proclaim themselves to be 'the best'!

As for surprising results, I guess I will have to find out where the Albanians (#4) and Macedonians (#3) hang out..
