My guess is that if cubeful hypergammon had an undefined equity problem like money backgammon potentially has, it would show up in the equities never settling on stable values. They would just oscillate back and forth as you tried to recalculate them.
As far as guesses go, mine is that a procedure to calculate normalized equities for all positions in all three states of cube ownerships could converge for backgammon and hypergammon. At least for backgammon we have good reasons to doubt that such a procedure would give us real equities of the unbounded game. Solving the bounded game for progressively increasing bounds should give us a better picture of what is really happening (i.e. we might see oscillations then).
