With the points per game being unbounded I don't know if it can be proven that the values that are settled on are actually the equities.

As we learn from 'real' backgammon, it may be hard to prove that equities (as usually defined) for the unbounded case even exist (and maybe, at least for real backgammon, they don't). But if they do exist, they can surely be reduced to normalized equities and then be computed over a finite set of states, right?
