AlphaZero pseudocode now available

I know a guy, who did something like this for Backgammon for quite some time: Gerald Tesauro. One or the other might remember his name ;) What was done now for chess, shogi and go was done for BG 25 years ago by him.
BTW MCTS is a valuable tool when you have: - no idea about a evaluation method - and have a straight alpha-beta game
Introducing dice isn't that well fitting for MCTS.
I guess that the guys may come up with a better bot, but most probably just due to the sheer amount of hardware Alphabet can throw at it. They needed only 9 days for chess... with 5000 Tensor units (and probably a non neglect able numbers of CPUs). The amount of hardware is far far away of that any mortal BG programmer could afford. This are 45,000 CPU days or 123 years of a single CPU. I don't know how much CPUs Xavier uses but I would bet less than a three digit number.....
