I find these early game problems more interesting than most probably but I feel they have helped my game immensely. Here the correct play is making your own 5 point. Not such a surprise but notice all the details of the position. Most importantly is of course making your offensive five point compared to the defensive five point. You have the stronger board after this play and the stronger blockcade. What might swing it to 24/20 being correct? Simply put another spare on the opponent's 8 pt. and I wouldn't be surprised if the plays came out dead even. Another feature here is how stacked your 6 & 8 points are. If you remove one of the checkers from the 8 pt. I also believe the plays would almost be a deadlock. Having candlesticks should be seen as a problem area and you should work towards shortening the sticks whenever possible.
