Old Position Revisited

This is an old position someone showed me with in the past week. He stated that when this was shown 6-10 years ago nearly all Open players made play X and nearly all Intermediate players made play Y. I thought the play was clear. Am I an Open Player or Intermediate? No peanut gallery comments please...
