Backgammon Fever

Having just received two of my other matches back from LA (thanks Ed O. & Malcolm D.) I don't feel quite as murky about my overplay that I had scolded in a previous post. Since I took the time to scold myself for what I felt like was sub par matches that weekend I'm also going to stretch at this early hour of the day and pat myself on the back for playing decent in at least a couple matches over that weekend. On 2 ply analysis I played these 9pt matches at a 1.6 and 1.7 error rate.

That had nothing to do with my post, but I had to find a way to fit it in. This post is about the obnoxious amount of bg I will soon find myself playing along with a few others that linger around these parts.

First, there's Michigan. This will be my last ABT event until November (Vegas) this year so if I want to rob Ray or Neil of their ABT glory I guess I might as well win the damn thing.

After that I will be heading to Europe for the rest of the summer and not coming back until the beginning of November. Shortly after I arrive in Europe I will be attending a small tournament in Nice at the local casino. I spent a summer in Nice which is on the Riviera for anyone who doesn't know and it's tough waking up every day to meander out to the beach to take a nap in the sun. I've actually been in the casino where the tournament is to take place, it's alongside the beach also and not even a hop or a skip from where I stay.

After Nice it's immediately to Monte Carlo for the World Championships. Monte Carlo (Monaco) isn't but a 25 minute train ride max. from Nice, so the travel inbetween these two tournaments will be minimal. I will be covering Monte Carlo for Gammonvillage. You'll be able to see brackets, photos, results, etc... if you're a member of GV. I imagine I'll update here also but not to the extent of GV though you'll have the likes of Neil or UBK to keep you abreast of how we're crushing the field.

After MC the WSOB launches in Cannes. Cannes is also along the Riviera keeping the travel between events to a minimum. I will be covering all of the WSOB events for the WSOB. This includes the next two events which are quite a while after which will give me time to scamper about Europe.

Prague is in September and London is the last leg/WSOB finals in October. I have a flight, a passport, money, and a hostel for when I arrive. Other than that, I have nfc what I'm doing while I'm over there but expect a serious drop in my postwhoring unless I find myself somewhere wifi friendly or wardrive (more likely warwalk) just to keep up on the US bg drama.
