Research: ABT desires

Within the next few years, I'd like to host a tournament in Dayton Ohio. The venue would be a nice reasonably priced (<$100/night) hotel near the Dayton airport, and several restaurants. But what I need to know is what exactly draws players to an event? Why is Novi so popular, while Cleveland so unpopular?

First, is the Midwest too saturated with events as is? Would having another event in Ohio be overkill?

Second, what do I need to offer to get players to attend? Obviously low rakes is a must.
