A good week for "experience" (OT)

Earlier here Walter Trice mentioned the accomplishment it would be for a 38 year old cyclist to win the TdF.

In a cerebral sport seemingly dominated by 20-somethings, the leader of the final 9 in the WSOP is 45. The player third in chips is 47.

Julius Boros won the US PGA (golf) Championship at age 48. That is the current record for the oldest player to win a golf major. At the halfway point of The (British) Open Championship, Tom Watson (age 59) is in a two-way tie for the lead. Mark Calcavecchia (age 49) is alone in 3rd, one behind. Vijay Singh (age 47) is another shot back.

It's still a longshot for the golfers. Last year 53-year old Greg Norman was leading going into the last round. But as the leaders get ready to tee off their round 3 in a few minutes, they (and we) can still dream.
