Welcome back y'all.

The point of diminishing returns was reached after the phrase "virtually meaningless". The known vulnerability of this system to geographic animosity, the chronic oversampling of one class of voters, the persistence of reputation over reality, the lack of any meaningful organization make this process an unsatisfactory sideshow. Effort should be applied otherwise.
