I experimented with Naccel a few years ago, when I first became aware of it, but I found I was returned to Cluster Counting.
You asked for examples, so here's what I do, which I guess is fairly standard:
gnubg 145
ian 140 Position ID: bJ7BABPgu1lAIA Match ID: cAkAAAAAAAAA
gnubg 147
ian 140 Position ID: bJvBABzguzlAQA Match ID: cAkAAAAAAAAA
The diagram on the left is the actual position. On the right is the mental adjustment I make as I count. The White men on 17 should also be shifted to 18, but I can't show this.
Blue's Count:
5 on the 6 point = 30 block of 4 on 7&8 = 30; total = 60 shift 11&24 to the left by 1; no change 3 on 10 point = 30; total = 90 bar and two opposing (7+18) = 50. total = 140 White's Count:
shift two each from 6 and 8 points 1 to left, matched by two from 4 point back to 2 point: no change far side = 3*23 + 2*26 = 69 + 26 = 95 a 5-prime around the 5 point = 50. total = 145 I got lucky here, with no stray pips left over from my shifting to remember.
There are two sources of error with this method: I've got confused with my shifting: going the wrong direction by 2 pips leaves you out by 4. I've added my blocks incorrectly and am out by 10. No excuse, really, but I confess I've done it when hurrying OTB.
I can count using this method fairly reliably, but I'm not lightning fast. So I'd love a way to improve.
