sometimes both sides read the dice differently. once, in a bear off position, i rolled what i thought was a 53 and bore 2 off, my opponent after i'd borne two off and picked up the dice, claimed it was a 52. with no way to clearly determine the facts, we rolled, he won --- then he claimed that i had to play 5/0 3/1 (a clearly inferior play) which the director refused to allow. i think legal plays should be the rule of law, though involving spectators to call attention to this is not acceptible.
