How did we get to this position from the last one we saw? Goes to show that anything can happen in backgammon. So what to do after 24/18*(2)? The only choices I see are 11/5 (2) and 18/12 (2). The play 11/5 (2) increases the chances for Stick dancing a little bit, and it means these two checkers are home and shall not move and can not be hit. The downside is that if Stick enters and comes out into the outfield we do not have a direct shot. Moreover, we'll probably have to leave a shot ourselves on the next roll. 18/12 (2) keeps more control of the outfield, and we will get a double shot if Stick should enter the outfield. Stick may choose to hang back in our home board, but that might be at the expense of breaking his own home board. On the other hand, with 18/12 (2) we will probably be leaving quite a few blots in the coming rolls. Hard decision, I go for 18/12 (2).
