And all this (four long posts of explanation) should be easier to understand and to use than half-crossover pipcount?! :-/

If you are satisfied with counts that are considerably slower than those you can generate with Naccel, then by all means use the half-crossover count, which is is at least faster than traditional. That the latter two are easier to learn is not in dispute.

If you like half-crossover, though, you might like Kangaroo, which is similarly conceived. I've been meaning to make a consolidated post just for linking purposes anyway (so no need to respond to it). Coming up shortly.
