Right. When trailing by 10, by merely kicking the field goal now, you give up on your chances to win in regulation by scoring two touchdowns.

I imagine there are some conditions concerning field positions and the number of yard to go on 4th down that make kicking correct (when trailing by 10). But 4th and 1 is probably a no-brainer to go for it regardless (I think Chuck told us this is almost always true.)
