Definitely 6/5 6/4 here; totally thematic and strong; down 7 supes, go all out to take checkers from useless places and develop the position. In truth, it's hard see a second choice I can stomach by comparison; I suppose gun to head it would be 8/7 6/4 or 10/9 6/4 (but what a shame not to slot the 5pt as well).

Is 21 even a bad roll? I don't think so. Aside from a point-maker, I don't see any roll that's better. As for awkward rolls, try 65 or 54, where White is unable to double slot her best points.

How should White play 61? Guess what: I think she should double-slot with 6/5 5/4! Hey, 61 is not as good a roll as 21, but she has to play the numbers she's given. To drive this point home, it wouldn't even surprise me if, with a roll of 63, at least one of the double slotting plays of 10/4 6/3 or 10/4 8/5 is better than breaking the midpoint with 13/7 10/7 (or 13/10 13/7).

Finally, at the risk of appearing critical in case it was the play actually made, breaking an anchor is horrible. I would go so far as to say that any legal play that doesn't break an anchor is better (with the possible exception of 8/7 8/6).

It is interesting to note that if White plays something like 10/7 and Blue rolls 41 43 (not sure about 32), she would play safe, whereas after Blue's 6/5 6/4 White will leave a new blot with those same rolls :)
