A few years ago a backgammon cheater was arrested at a tournamnet in France (I don't know if he was ever tried and convicted) for using dice that had these numbers: 1, 3, 4, 5, 5, 6 (no 2 and two 5s). The story about the arrest mentioned that he had been surprisingly successful in a couple of previous tournaments, so there's some anecdotal information to support the theory that the person with the higher dice wins more in the long run.
