Many thanks to both Nack and Chase for the clarification and all of the tips and pointers. I think this has now set me up to try applying the Naccel counts.

I am actually finding it helpful at the moment to use Daily Gammon for this. You can turn off the pip count and then when you have a new move to play you can take as long as you like to do your counting.

I think that Naccel is a bit like shorthand. There is an investment in terms of time and effort to master it but once you have mastered it you have a skill for life.
