Actually Daniel, it is more than just that.

Once you have a site with lots of content related to all kinds of backgammon topics (or anything other subject for that matter), and you search engine optimize your site, then (if done properly) when people look for such topics, links to your site will appear indexed high up in the results of search engines like Google.

Even if you did not search engine optimize a site, Google spider bots still find your website and take information about it back to the search engine, only it will not be indexed so well in search results.

Right now if you look for "backgammon history" (with no quotes) a gammonline article by Mark Driver will appear 25th in the Google results. Looking for "a history of backgammon" (the title of the article) with quotes returns the same article but #1 in Google's results.

Another sample - Backgammon philosophy - also a #1 return to GammOnLine.

Or - "Mark Driver" backgammon - results 9 and 10.

Search for - GE/Play65 - results about them from r.g.b. results 1 and 2 and GOL results 3 and 4.

GOL's "Online Backgammon" page (section) has the words online backgammon written on it 17 times - this only give them the 22nd result for that term in a Google search though w ww.mistergammon.com (31 for this search term in quotes) probably links to P65.

And so on, for many other topics...

Although P65 has deleted all those posts, they can still be found (for a while) through Google searches. The Google spider bots take back a copy of the page and store it on Google's computer. However, if you click on the link in the search result, you won't see it, you have to click on "Cached".

For example, if you look up on Google - Erik Sorensen backgammon - results 8 and 9 show a forum message on GammOnLine it looks like this:

Re: News from GE Re: Online backgammon sites Rob Adams -- Saturday, 28 April 2007, at 2:19 p.m. ... Erik Sorensen -- Saturday, 28 April 2007, at 10:08 a.m. ... w ww.gammonline.com/members/board/config.cgi?read=146745 - 28k - Cached - Similar pages

If you click on "Cached" (over at google) you can still see the message as Google's spider bots were last there on 26 May 2007 01:47:51 GMT. Once they go back to GOL for their next visit, they will not find that page and it might be deleted forever, unless Kit has a backup of it or unless Google cached copy does not change if not found.

If for example, you search again GE/Play65 there are two pages of results, and if you go to the end of the second page you will see a message that says:

"In order to show you the most relevant results, we have omitted some entries very similar to the 15 already displayed. If you like, you can repeat the search with the omitted results included."

Clicking on "repeat the search with the omitted results included" will give you 64 results, many from GOL and surprisingly some other sites where their antics have been revealed.
