How do you play opening 21 in Nackgammon? Below is (money) data, which will be followed by clarifying diagrams:
194
Nackgammon, Opening 21 194
Snowie .. [@ U14 V26 u39 S58] 10k 6ku 3kS
GnuBG .. [@ U16 V37 u40 S59] 62k 15kVu 5kS
XG 3-ply [@ U9 V34 u44] 62k 31kVuBot avg. [@ U13 V32 u41 S59]
Nactation key: @ = anchor (24/22 23/22), U = Up (23/20), V = Variant-Up (23/22 23/21), u = up (24/21), and S = Split (23/22 13/11).
Margins are in thousandths of a point, and the number of trials is listed in thousands ("k") after the brackets. For example, "[@ U14 V26 u39 S58] 10k 6ku 3kS" means that @ is best, U is -.014, V is -.026, after 10000+ trials; u is -.039 after 6000+ trials; and S is -.058 after 3000+ trials.
(At DMP and GG, the U play is even closer: -.003 and -.004 respectively according to Gnu rollouts.)
Below are the positions after the top five candidate plays, with the margin (error size) for each.
Blue played 21@, which is BEST
Blue played 21U, which is -.013
Blue played 21V, which is -.032
Blue played 21u, which is -.041
Blue played 21S, which is -.059
Next, look for my NG Opening 53 post.
