The Opening Bell Curve

I'm happy with the "unfairness" of the game the way it's played. But if you're looking to make adjustments to temper the "unfairness" of winning the opening roll, it doesn't need to be all that complex. Simply have the player who wins the opening roll play only his (i.e. the high) die. This still gives him the initiative, but it takes away the large equity swings that come with the point-making rolls, and it, on average, leaves Op on roll trailing by 4 pips, which is essentially an even game.
